Overall Scenerio and Map

There are numerous reports of a troubled plane flying around the Danielson, Ct. area, the same day Gerhard was missing.  Gerhard departed from Norwood, Ma. at 2:45 P.M..  He was last seen on radar at 3:06 P.M..  All of the reports in the Danielson, Ct. area are between 4:15 and 4:45 P.M..  These reports all coincide with one another, as well as that of a report in the Middleboro, Ma. area and around East Greenwich, R.I..
Some of the reports state that the plane didn't have an engine noise, while other reports state that the planes engine was shutting down and coming back on and the pilot was fighting to keep it running.  One report in Ct. states that the plane was descending into their field, then the planes engine started back up and it took off.  Another report in Thompson, Ct. was filed, of a low flying plane.
In Gardner, Ma., which is North of Danielson, Ct., an airborn report of a very faint ELT signal was filed with the F.A.A..  A pilot reported hearing a faint ELT signal 3 days after Gerhard departed from Norwood, Ma..  He had to descend to treetop level to pick it up.  The signal was being heard 8 miles or .08 miles at a heading of 120 degrees from the Gardner VOR.  This would possibly place the signal on the Northern side of Wachusetts Mountain.  An ELT Signal will only last for 3 to 5 days before it goes dead.  The Gardner area lines up with Jaffrey Airport, therefor, this area warrants searching.  This area is presently being ground searched.
