Preflight
On May 6, 1999, Gerhard Finkenbeiner left work early, at 1:00, to go home and workout on his treadmill. This was typical of Gerhard to do on occasion. He never arrived at home, but instead, at 2:45, he arrived at Norwood Memorial Airport in Norwood, Massachusetts and took his plane for a flight. He never filed a flight plan or took his charts with him, as he always did. For days after, searchers concentrated their search efforts around the Jaffrey, New Hampshire area, where Gerhard had a second home. After radar tapes were reviewed, search efforts then moved to the Carver, Massachusetts and Plymouth, Massachusetts area's. |
